Shedfile (“we”, “us”) is a mobile app that helps you clear unneeded photos and videos. It is developed and provided by an independent developer in Thailand. Contact: hello@shedfile.com. This policy covers the Shedfile app and the shedfile.com website.
Your photos and videos are processed on your device only. We do not upload, store, sell or share them. The app has no user accounts, no ads, and no third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools.
Photos and videos in your device library (through the Android media permissions or iOS Photos access), to read their size, date, folder name, thumbnails and the image data needed to find large files, duplicates, similar photos, blurry photos and screenshots. Values computed from them (such as image fingerprints) stay in the app on your device and are never sent out. You may grant limited access and can withdraw permission at any time in your phone settings. The app does not use all-files access and does not access your camera, microphone, location or contacts.
Your settings (theme, language, Shed colour, large-file limits, sensitivity), plan state (for example files moved today and trial start date), and a list of files you moved to trash (file ID, name, size, date) to show in the Trash tab. This stays on your device only. Clear the app data or uninstall to remove it.
The app never deletes files on its own. Files you choose are moved to the system trash (normally kept for 30 days and restorable) and your operating system asks you to confirm again. After the system retention period files may be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. You decide every file; we recommend keeping backups of important photos.
On Android the app shows local notifications when a scan finishes (and runs a foreground service while scanning). These are generated on your device, not pushed from a server. You can turn them off in your phone settings.
Fonts: the first time the app runs it downloads fonts from Google Fonts, so Google can see your IP address and standard request data under Google's policies. No photos or personal data are sent. Purchases: when payments are enabled, purchases and trials are handled by Google Play or Apple, which process payment data under their own policies. We never receive your card number and may only learn whether you hold a Pro entitlement.
The website uses no cookies, ads or analytics. It remembers your language choice in your browser's localStorage, on your device only. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, and the hosting provider may keep standard request logs (such as IP addresses) for security. If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply or to tell you when the app launches, and delete them on request.
We use data only as needed to provide the service you request (contract) and on the basis of your consent when you grant photo access. You may withdraw consent by revoking the permission in your phone settings. We do not use data for advertising, profiling or automated decisions affecting you, and we do not sell or disclose it to third parties unless required by law.
Because data lives on your device, retention is under your control (uninstall to remove it). We keep emails you send us only as long as needed to correspond. Security of on-device data depends on your device lock and operating system. We run no server that stores users' photos, so there is nothing on our side to leak.
Under Thailand's PDPA and other applicable laws (such as the GDPR for users in Europe) you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent and portability, and may complain to a supervisory authority (in Thailand, the Personal Data Protection Committee). Because we hold almost no data about you, most rights can be exercised on your device; for emailed contact data write to hello@shedfile.com.
Shedfile is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your photo data is not transferred off your device. Connections to Google Fonts or the app stores may involve servers abroad under those providers' policies.
If we materially change how we handle data we will update this page and the date below, and notify you in the app where appropriate.
